Abstract:
Large-scale genomic data and Bayesian phylodynamic approaches provide new insights into the spillover of zoonotic RNA viruses from animals and humans. Here I'll focus on the current threat of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza viruses to humans -- and the surprising frequency of "reverse zoonosis" of SARS-CoV-2 from humans to wildlife.
